Last night Ulster Happening attended the 44th annual Children’s Day parade and fireworks in the city of Kingston. What a fun filled community gathering.
Many parks in the city of Kingston offer summer camps for the children of the area to attend. On the 2nd Friday of June these camps come together for a Children’s Day Parade. This years theme was “Family Movies,” All of the campers , counselors, and their extravagant floats meet at the Kingston High School on Broadway in Kingston. From there they march down Broadway, through some of the streets in Uptown Kingston and end the parade in the Kingston Plaza.
When arriving at the Plaza you will find the week long carnival taking place in the far corner of the Plaza past Hannafords. This carnival is truly a good old fashioned summer carnival, filled with rides, games, cotton candy and candy apples.
As dusk approached the parking lot of the Kingston plaza was filled to capacity as was the streets along the parade route, and the Academy Green Park on upper Broadway and Clinton Ave. Everyone on blankets, lawn chairs waiting for the magnificent firework display. They did not disappoint the community, as the fireworks were certainly worth coming out to see.
What an enjoyable entertaining evening.
Looking for more fireworks and community events? Head on down to Plattekill which is located in the southern portion of Ulster County, gateway to the Catskill mountains tonight from 5-9 at the Felten Park in Modena there will be music and fireworks. Hope to see you there!
